This simple pizza dough recipe is a must try as it produces a soft pizza crust. Some people like a thin crust some prefer a thick and soft crust. Whatever your preference you can make that type of crust. This is a tried and tested recipe, making the best homemade pizza.
Makes 5 x 12" rounds
All purpose flour 500 gms
Instant dry yeast 7 gms
Sugar 10 gms
Salt 10 gms
Oil 10 gms
*I have used all purpose flour in this but you can use 50% all purpose flour and 50% whole wheat flour
Oil is normal cooking oil or olive oil.
Make soft smooth dough with flour yeast sugar salt oil and water.You can knead by hand or use a stand mixer. Knead for at least 8-10 minutes.
If the dough gets sticky do not be tempted to add more flour. It will stabilize after proofing.
Place the dough in a greased bowl giving it enough space to rise (it will double in size). Cover with a wet cloth and keep in a warm place to rise. It may take 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on the weather.(It could take longer in cold weather).
Check if it has doubled in volume. Remove dough from the bowl. Punch it down to release air bubbles.
Divide into 5 balls, 160 gms each. Roll to 12".Cover and keep again for 15 minutes for second proofing.
Spread your sauce, cheese and your favourite toppings.
Bake at 200 deg. C for 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
You can even blind bake it and freeze for later use
